After six months in this house, I finally got around to decorating the bedroom. Here are a few pictures:

As always, there are before, during and after pics with commentary over on my journal - http://matrixx.livejournal.com/927436.html

Grey has been what I've been wanting to paint the bedroom walls for a while now. It looks lovely!

Lovely! I love the contrast in the colors and how bright the room is!

love love love the gray on gray look! very sophisticated and subtle. looks like a peaceful space and the light from those windows is fabulous!

That's exactly what we were going for. Thanks!

I am in love with this entire room. Great job!

Love it! Love the colors, the design, the typewriter.

I'm pretty fond of the typewriter myself. It MAY have been used to falsify letters "from the ducklings" to the kids. I'm not admitting to anything!

Whoa! What paint is on your walls??!!? That's perfect for what Ive had in mind for a room here. We just bought a house in September. We got the hallway and livingroom painted and now Im thinking on bedroom but cant really find any brands or tones that really nail what Ive had in my head. THAT'S WHAT IVE HAD IN MY HEAD!!!

I liked it because it was a dark grey, but still had a lot of warmth. This is called "Smokey Chimneysweep" and is a Colorplace (Wal-Mart brand) paint. My boyfriend Neal made a post about the color choice over on our Wordpress blog: http://aguyagirlandaduck.wordpress.com/2011/03/16/designed-to-peep/ Ducks were heavily involved.

I would love to live in that bedroom. So beautiful.

LOVE it! I wish I had as much space as you.

very sleek and elegant! i'm so envious of all your natural light! that room has more than my entire house. :)

i also friended you, hope you don't mind. I enjoyed reading everything you did in the room makeover and it gave me some great ideas!

It's a double-edged sword. All that light adds a lot of heat, even though the windows are energy efficient. And all the doors and windows made it really hard to layout the room. But I do love the light when the air conditioner is on!

I'll add you back. Seems like I don't do these kinds of posts as much as I used to, but if you look under the Home Improvement tag you will see all sorts of situations I probably shouldn't have gotten myself into.

Very nice. Especially love all the windows.

Damn, I had forgotten how wildly entertaining your LJ is, even for people who've never seen Evita. (We exist.) This has become such a lovely master suite. I have to say, the before pics of the space puzzle me. It was a nice bedroom, but not the room of people with ducks - more the room of people who karate-chop their throw pillows and stencil "LIVE LOVE LAUGH" above their kitchen cabinets.*

*Saucy Dwellers, if you are guilty of pillow-karate-chopping, don't tell me. I don't want to know.

who've never seen Evita
I'm right here in my userpic. ;)

I painted our master a lighter shade of gray, but there are so many elements in your master that I can see implemented into ours with some additional pops of color. You did a fantastic job! It's beautiful! I especially love the mirror above your bed!

My original idea was to do charcoal grey and yellow, but I liked the grey so much when I started adding that in, that I decided much less in terms of "pops of color" was required. But then again, it's a bedroom, so a soothing palate seemed like a good idea.

That mirror is a beast. I bought it when I was 20 because, at the time, it seemed a lot easier than art. This house has so many windows that this was really the only wall we could hang it! I rubbed the frame with silver carnuba wax so it would match better. Then I rubbed everything ELSE with it because it was fun.

Oh man. I am in love with your curtains, floor, paint color, lamps, shelving... everything! Such a great job!

Beautiful! I love all the shades of grey with the crisp white. The room has such an open but still cozy feel. Great work!

That is a huge bedroom! I love that you took it from overly "grown-up" and a little stuffy to more modern and homey - you did a wonderful job.

Beautiful makeover and good call on the bathroom doors.

LOVE IT. Love grey so much. The contrast with the wainscoting is perfect. If I wasn't doing dark floors and cabinets in our family room/kitchen - that would be the grey I'd choose.

Yeah, we installed dark floors downstairs when we bought the house and the walls there are light. This is the flooring we removed from there and moved upstairs, so it's definitely not a color I'd pick, and I don't like the waitscoting, but once they grey was up, I liked it all a lot better.

I think its very nice, but I would throw in one accent color. I think red would be really pretty!

There are shades of yellow and gold as accents. To me, red seems very predictable with what is basically a black and white color scheme. The concept here was more of a play on texture and color density.

Stunning! I want to try grey some day but it seems like a harder color to pull off; you nailed it!

Not everyone can put off darker grey tones in a room... but you did! :)
I really love the mirror above the bed, & the old grey typewriter is unique!

I'm cracking up reading the story of the redo on your journal..."When you turn it on, it 'burns with the splendor of the brightest fire,' by which I mean you can't look directly at it."...*dies laughing*

Gorgeous change! Love it!

Like I said before, Evita jokes are kind of a niche market, but I went for it anyway!
