Ahoy, saucy comrades! I'm sure I'm not the only one who checks in on the community every so often, lamenting there are no more SUY posts and excited whenever someone posts something new. So I give you my master en suite:

I have been dying to paint the bathroom this color for over two years, and the husband finally caved when the property manager we contacted said it needed to be repainted before we list it for lease. So for the next couple of months, I finally get to enjoy this room.

The property manager suggested sage (meh), but I went with New Moss by Behr, which is a desaturated seafoam blue-green. It changes a lot over the course of the day depending on the light. To date we have replaced the mirror, hardware, faucet, light fixtures, painted the trim and walls, and installed cabinet hardware. We are also planning to restain the cabinetry espresso. Currently trying that out on the other bathroom. Hopefully it works out.

I *really* wanted to show everyone my awesome new shower curtain. I bought it from Urban Outfitters but you can find it cheaper on ModCloth or Amazon.

Oh, yay! It's great to see a post here.

Wow, what a great shower curtain!

That looks great! Love the scarab- and I have an extreme bug phobia, so that's saying something.

(Also glad to see I'm not the only one who misses the Show Us Your Sauce posts.)

The scarab is one of my all-time favorite thrift store finds. It's hard to photograph but it has metallic gold and green thread.

It's very cool, and looks great against the wall colour.

The curtain is pretty fantastic, right? Totally worth the one month wait for it to come off backorder.

The color is fabulous, the curtain is awesome, and GAHHH I LOVE THE SCARAB! Well done!

Lovely! It will suck to leave it behind. Please share how the cabinet restraining goes! I am thinking of trying it as well.

Thanks. I will try to document the staining. I originally tried the gel stain that has been floating around Pinterest, but it was a total pain. It really just coats like a paint rather than absorbing and it was impossible to get it to coat evenly in the little nooks and crannies. So I stripped it down and we are starting again with liquid stain instead.

Well, already you've been helpful because that was what I was going to try. :)

Just FYI, I went ahead and tried the gel stain anyway. It worked great for me, but my cabinets were flat front and there weren't really any nooks and crannies. I agree that it was more like painting than staining, but since I didn't want to sand everything, it was a good option for my project. I'm not sure that it's any different than if I had painted my cabinets dark brown thought.

Glad it worked for you. It was a mess for me, and seemed like it would have been easier to get the same effect with brown paint. We ended up doing pretty much the same procedure but with liquid stain, sanding between coats and not wiping off the excess stain. It was easier to get into the crannies and corners of the detail trim.

Here's a pic from the other bathroom if you're interested in how it turned out: http://instagram.com/p/ZLzpPcJz2L/

I absolutely LOVE the paint color and the shower curtain, I may have to copy you... You outdid yourself here, it looks beautiful!

That's gorgeous! What finishing si that one the walls? How well does it take to the damp in the bathroom?

It's latex paint in satin. I can't stand semi-gloss on anything other than trim work. It's working great so far.

Ooh! That's interesting - I didn't even know that was a thing. I'm starting a remodel now and I am looking into stuff for the kitchen walls (other than the backsplash).

You can definitely do satin in a kitchen. Benjamin Moore has a finish called "pearl" that's an eggshell specifically designed for kitchens/bathrooms.

I am a fan of that shower curtain (maybe the Kraken is taking the mermaid for their afternoon constitutional, explaining the totally unconcerned look on her face). Very cool.

I really got mesmerized at the room decor,,, but what abt that right side door? May I like, if you allow, to put some great guest bedroom ideas having nicer looks, too. Thank you.
